In the past few years, drugstore makeup as a whole has upped its game. Saving a buck here and there is always a plus! Here are some affordable beauty products that I have been completely obsessing over lately.
L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation
I spoke about this foundation briefly in my Decluttering Series, but I would like to take a moment to remind you how beautiful it is. If you are looking for an impressive, affordable foundation with a demi matte finish, this is definitely the one for you. It provides a wonderful medium coverage finish that is buildable, and it blends into the skin nicely when paired with a beauty blender or densely packed brush. I recommend this foundation for all skin types as I find even with it’s matte finish, that it still does a good job at hydrating my own dry skin .
Maybelline Fit Me Concealer
This is a favourite among the beauty community because it is such a great formula for such an incredible price tag. The Fit Me concealer is known for providing a fairly full coverage to the under eyes, while still looking natural. It doesn’t crease when set with a good powder, and blends out well with a beauty blender after applying foundation. PS. It’s a pretty good dupe for the Nars Radiant Creamy concealer when it comes to the coverage/formula.
CoverGirl Outlast All-Day Powder & CoverGirl Advanced Radiance Pressed Powder
I’m not to sure what CoverGirl has been doing to improve their powder formulas lately, but whatever it is – I love it. I absolutely adore the Outlast All-Day powder for setting my foundation, and I can honestly say that it is all I have been using to set my face for the past 3 weeks or so. It does a great job at mattifying skin and it keeps things put.
I don’t use the Advanced Radiance powder for setting my foundation, but I love it for setting concealer under my eyes. It doesn’t crease, and it really helps to brighten up those dark under eye circles.
Physicans Formula Matte Sculpting Bronze Booster Trio
As you can see, the vanilla coloured shade at the top has been another favourite for setting my under eye concealer and I enjoy it more than a lot of the vanilla/banana shades in my more expensive palettes. The center colour is the perfect shade for me to contour with as it really helps to add definition, carve out my cheek bones, & it has the perfect amount of grey as an undertone. Since I am so fair, the cooler tone in this shade really compliments my skin nicely. I’m a huge fan of the buttery formula as well! I don’t use the bottom shade much however as it is a little to warm toned for my own skin.
Revlon Highlighting Palette in Rose Glow
I have heard a lot of mixed reviews about this product, especially this shade. But I personally think it performs beautifully as a blush topper. Also if I use a fan brush and focus it on the bottom three shades, it makes a beautiful highlight when applied above my cheek bones, and on my cupids bow (right above the center of my lip). Good highlighters from the drugstore are few & far between, so this is definitely one of my top affordable favourites.
L’oreal Infallible Lip Paints
These are pretty new on the market and I really enjoy them. They are not meant to be a matte liquid lip, and are instead a lip cream. They don’t dry down completely matte and once they are applied you have some time to touch up unlike matte liquid lipsticks. My personal favourite shades are “Taupeless” & “Spicy Blush”. I have been reaching for Spicy Blush on a regular basis as it is an easy pinky nude that is flattering with a lot of different looks & it keeps the lips fairly hydrated. Taupeless is a unique lavender/taupe shade with a grey undertone that is quite sheer with only one coat, but you can build it up to get a lot more colour payoff.
So there are my current favourites from the drugstore! I am constantly testing out new makeup, trying to figure out the best that is out there. So, when I find myself reaching foe these more affordable items – I’m always happy to share in order to help you SAVE!
Enjoy your evening! 🙂
