Some New Drugstore Makeup

Hey guys!

So good news, the drugstore is filled with lots of fun, new makeup for the summer season. So let’s jump right into a few I have tried…

*Please keep in mind prices on products vary depending on place of purchase.*

L’Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara – $10.96 – $13.99 CAN.

A lot of people have stated that this is a dupe for the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara, which in my opinion would probably be a good comparison. It’s no secret that they clearly took inspiration from the packaging (notice the similarities).

The wand & formula are also pretty comparable. I think this is a great mascara for those with fairly long, voluminous lashes to begin with. I like it for my top lashes as it does last very well throughout the day, but I personally need a little more of a comb wand to get into my teeny tiny bottom lashes. I also don’t find that the formula dries & crumbles off throughout the day which is a plus!

L’oreal Pro-Glow Concealer – Retails around $11.99 CAN.

This concealer is a bit of a disappointment, although I shouldn’t have been that surprised considering I wasn’t a fan of the PRO-GLOW Foundation. I don’t know how they can call this a concealer, it is so sheer that it hardly conceals anything (especially dark under eye circles) . Now it does blend out nicely, and I like the applicator but that’s not enough to make this worth purchasing. It could be good for highlighting and contouring certain areas of the face, but the shade range could use some improvement.

Covergirl Vitalist Elixir Foundation – $13.97 CAN. (Walmart) – $17.99 CAN. (Shoppers Drug-Mart)

I was surprised by this foundation because I ended up really enjoying it after a few wears. It lasted throughout the day nicely on my skin, and wore comfortably until the very end of the day when I did find my skin felt a little itchy and ready to have my makeup taken off. It has a strong smell, that I didn’t mind but if you are sensitive to scents you may not like it. The shade range is alright but could definitely use a couple of shades on both the darker and lighter ends. The downfall to this foundation is that I can only where it when I have some self tanner on as it does oxidize (foundation gets darker when comes into contact with air/different products) on my skin a bit, but when matched correctly I do like the look of it. It is on the dewier side so if you have very oily skin, I would avoid. The packaging is really nice, and it’s always nice when a product comes with a pump as it keeps everything nice and sanitary.

Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink – $11.99 CAN. (Maybelline Website)

The Super Stay Matte Ink’s are a new liquid lipstick formula from Maybelline. I purchased the shade “Loyalist” which is a really pretty peachy/pink nude colour. I always struggle to find a matte liquid lip in a nude. I find nudes always seem to turn darker on my lips for whatever reason. I really loved this colour because it did stay the exact same on my lip as it appeared when swatched.

^ Apologies for the messy ponytail! eeeek.

The formula isn’t bad but I definitely found it to be a bit drying, and I did need to touch up throughout the day. Although I wasn’t a fan of its lasting power, after eating a salad with an oil-based dressing, the lipstick was almost completely gone. I will continue to use though as I found the colour to be very flattering.

I was going to include the new Revlon Colorstay Creme Eye shadows in this review, but since I purchased 7 of the shades I figured I will do a separate post on them. I hope you enjoyed this quick little review. I will be back soon with some more beauty related posts.

I love that lipstick color! I also feel like I need to try the Covergirl foundation, I am on the oily side but I still think I might like it. I will remember to get a shade lighter though because it oxidizes. Great post!
